I had the opportunity to visit with the family of Sgt. Kyle Clayton Thomas of Amory Mississippi who was killed while serving in the Mississippi National Guard at the National Training Center in Fort Irwin, California, earlier this week.
The family graciously welcomed me into their home. On behalf of Senator Hobb Bryan and myself, we presented his father, Eddie Thomas, with a state flag which was flown over the Mississippi State Capitol on January 16, 2017.
A second flag, flown on the same date, was presented to his one month old baby girl, Miss Devina Smith. The child’s mother, Miss Jessica Smith of Amory, received the flag.
I thanked the family for his service and their sacrifice. I know that millions of Mississippians and military servicemen and their families across this nation are praying for them during this terrible tragedy.
