Senator Chad McMahan consistently votes for Mississippi values: religious freedom, private property rights, a celebration and promotion of the 2nd Amendment and our God-given gun rights, fair impartial equality before the law, access to affordable, high-quality healthcare, and a commitment to a world-class transportation and infrastructure maintenance program that supports our 21st-century economy.

Promises MAde, Promises Kept

Chad McMahan offered himself to serve, and the residents of North Mississippi elected him to represent them in the state senate in 2015. The campaign centered on these commitments:

  1. To support and boldly speak for public education.
  2. Economic development and to reduce regulations on businesses.
  3. A promise to protect the PERS retirement system for working individuals and families.
  4. To be available for his constituents.

Working together, we are on target and continue to accomplish those promises.

Education

Senator McMahan has been and continues to be a champion for public education. He has toured 35 school campuses across Mississippi, seeing the needs of students and listening to feedback from educators and parents.

His strong positions for public education were recognized in 2018 when he received the JC Whitehead Advocate for Education Award for his proven commitment to Tupelo Public Schools and for the pursuit of Excellence in Education.

When I consider the price of public education against the price of a lifetime of illiteracy, public education's cost is a bargain.

Tax Cuts

In 2017, Mississippi Republicans including Senator Chad McMahan gave hard-working Mississippi families the largest individual tax cut in the history of the state.

I know hard working Mississippi families know how to spend their money better than any politician. I want Mississippians to have career opportunities and financial success that allows them to spend their money on a home, a couple of trucks, a boat, a camper, and a plan for their futures.

Law Enforcement & First Responders

Standing with the men and women of law enforcement and first responders has been a top priority for Senator Chad McMahan.

His unwavering support for the men and women of law enforcement led him to write and promote the Blue, Red, and Med Lives Matters legislation which later became the Back the Badge legislation of 2017, requiring enhanced penalties for people who would attack uniformed law enforcement officers and first responders.

Drawing on his experience as an alderman in a small municipality and serving in the senate has given him a perspective on the needs of law enforcement at the local level and statewide.

I am committed to making sure our officers and first responders have the equipment, training, and technology they need to protect and serve our communities. There is a thin line around our society and that thin line is blue.

Healthcare

Access to affordable, world class, sustainable healthcare is important to me. When I was in high school my family could not afford insurance. I had an accident in school which caused a financial burden to my family which we paid over a series of years. This incident impressed on me the importance of access to healthcare for working families.

We must continue to work together to find private sector solutions for the cost of insurance and healthcare. I am willing to review and investigate any solution that bring affordable and sustainable healthcare to working Mississippians.

Broadband

Mississippi is leading the way in broadband expansion. In 2020 in the midst of the Covid Event,  the Mississippi legislature invested in our people by offering grants as a spark to encourage Electric Power CO-Ops  to offer broadband to every home in Mississippi. The legislature even took it a step further and committed additional funds to purchase every school age child a laptop or electronic device so they could remote learn.

As our school children are returning to the classroom, I am proud to have played a part in providing every student in Mississippi their own personal device.
